Description
It is every Christian parent's fear: what if my child falls away because of something I did, or said, or was? Rob is extremely reassuring. His pragmatic, candid approach provides both parenting advice and guidance for parents about their own spiritual development. Rob identifies five traits which can quench faith in your child: busyness, cynicism, hypocrisy, judgementalism and over-familiarity (your children never know when they should take off their shoes). He teaches that disappointment is an inevitable part of growing up. There will come a time when they are disappointed with Christians, the Church, themselves and even God. We should teach our children how to love God even when things fall apart. Do not hide your children from the world: instead, help them to discriminate. Above all, provide them with a vision or what they can be and can achieve. Peter became a fisher of men.
Author Biography
Rob Parsons is an international speaker on family life and business and a best-selling author. Each year he addresses thousands of people in live seminars, as well as on radio, television and film. In 1988 Rob founded 'Care for the Family', a charitable organisation which aims to promote strong family life and help those hurting because of family breakdown. Since it first began over 320,000 people have attended family-building events and courses run by the charity and thousands more families find support through its resources and other initiatives. Rob is particularly passionate about helping parents relate to their children, particularly their teenagers. His writing on this topic often reflects what he considers are areas where he feels he could have done better in the fatherhood department. Rob's books include 'The Sixty Minute Family', 'Getting Your Kids Through Church' and 'The Heart of Success', which reached Number 1 in the Booktrack Business & Management List and Number 2 in The Sunday Times Business Books List. More than half a million copies of his books have been sold worldwide in 12 languages. Rob and his wife Dianne live in Cardiff and have been married for 37 years. They have two grown up children.
