Lane's sister, Virginia loves cleaning and does a deal with the maid to take over cleaning Lane's house. Lane's life, meanwhile, is beginning to unravel..."The Clean House" has its British premiere at Sheffield Crucible in March 2006, starring Patricia Hodge as the doctor and directed by Samuel West. It won the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 2004, the only prize in the world only for women playwrights. This volume also includes "Eurydice", Ruhl's reinvention of the tragic Greek tale of love and loss - plus a third play.

Reviews"'Passionate. Show-stopping. Daringly over-the-top and impressively consistent in its delirious excess' New Haven Advocate 'This comedy is romantic, deeply so, but in the more arcane sense of the word: visionary, tinged with fantasy, extravagant in feeling, maybe a little nuts' New York Times"
