Dr Maggie Scott is a Senior Editor for Scottish Language Dictionaries and an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow. She is the author of the 'Scots Word of the Week' column in The Herald and is editor of the journal of the Society for Name Studies in Britain and Ireland.
