So many of our greatest comedy writers-Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Neil Simon, Larry Gelbart, Woody Allen-were part of Sid Caesar's creative troupe. Sid Caesar was born in Yonkers, New York, in 1922 and began his career in comedy while a musician in the Catskills. He was a film and stage star by his mid-twenties, and in 1950 came the debut of Your Show of Shows, followed later in the decade by Caesar's Hour. Caesar has also starred in numerous Broadway shows and Hollywood movies. Eddy Friedfeld is an entertainment journalist and film critic. He lives in New York City.
