Description

A highly readable and entertaining account of a year dedicated to fly-fishing in New Zealand. Its stories are told with an honesty that reveals the highs and lows of pursuing an oft-elusive quarry. The thrill of close encounters with trout is mirrored by the pleasure of the companionship of his dogs, his long-standing friends and the many others he encounters on the banks of rivers and lakes across the country. Each chapter is devoted to one month of the year and covers some aspect of fly-fishing pertinent to that month. Includes trips fishing with friends and clients, and speculates on rods, reels, which ties and flies anglers prefer, ponders the pros and cons of catch-and-release practices, and considers environmental and ecological factors affecting our waterways. Illustrated with specially commissioned fly drawings and six location sketch maps. The Trout Diaries contains a wealth of captivating and often amusing anecdotes as well as valuable information making it a true angler's companion, both literary and practical.
