Voices from the Sea tells the stories of fifteen prominent fishing families from the Nelson and Marlborough regions. In their own voices the members of a number of generations tell the vicissitudes and rewards of their seafaring lifestyle. From the era of handlining out of a clinker dinghy, to the discovery and development of deep-sea fisheries, the special role of the region's pioneering fishing families is told in vivid detail.
