Description

Ford's novel, "Parade's End", has been acknowledged as one of the great British novels about World War I. This book features a selection of Ford's other writings about the war, and should shed light on the tetralogy. It includes reminiscences, an unfinished novel, stories, and excerpts from letters.

Reviews

Kirkus Review US:Ford Madox Ford (1873-1939) was a man of prolific ability: editor, critic and novelist, he was also one of the oldest men to participate in frontline action during the First World War. Although his experience of combat was limited, he wrote a wealth of pieces connected with his time on the Western Front and this eclectic volume, containing both published and unpublished work, gives ample demonstration of how profoundly the war affected his subsequent life. Herein lies the book's appeal. Discursive and of uneven literary merit, the volume's chief recommendation lies in its expansive sweep. (Kirkus UK)
