A natural storyteller, Lynn A. Jacobson describes himself as a seriously over-educated, out-of-date engineer. In addition to three degrees from MIT and one from University of Colorado, his credits include electronic designs/builds for various MIT satellite experiments. His projects included plasma probes to capture the sun's plasma flow profile and the first ever gamma-ray telescope to map celestial gamma-ray distributions, the results of which supported the Big Bang theory. His three tours on Kwajalein at the Marshall Islands missile re-entry test site over five years included operations of electronic interfaces, a 48-inch slewing telescope, mission control, as well as coaching a children's swim team of 30. In his spare time, he squeezed in teaching calculus part-time for the University of Hawaii, physics at Foothills College, and digital circuits at University of Colorado.In spite of his technical background, Jacobson has surprised himself (and his family) by discovering the joys of writing and becoming a people observer. He and his wife, painter, pianist, and editor Meimei Pan, reside in Palo Alto, California. They continue to write, create art, and indulge in the occasional bit of counseling for their daughters and grandchildren--when permitted.
