Series Overview- Horror comics author Junji Ito has recently purchased a new house and has decided to invite his girlfriend to move in with him. However, when she moves in, she comes with two cats, Yon, a strange-looking white cat with a ghastly fur pattern on its back that resembles a skull, and Mu, Yon's cute counterpart and playmate. This manga is a diary of the author's life as he tries and often fails to connect with his two feline friends. The manga is drawn in Junji Ito's horror comic style featuring intricate and finely drawn images, which when combined with the humorous story, results in a experience that is sure to bring laughter to the reader.
Author Biography
Alongside authors such as Maruo Suehiro and Kazuo Umezu, Junji Ito is well-known as one of Japan's greatest in the genre of horror manga. His most notable works include Tomie, Uzumaki, and Gyo, which were all published in the United States and have also been adapted to film and animation.
Reviews"The funniest comic that I've read in-please forgive me-a cat's age. ... Ito is the creator of nerve-shredding horror comics like Uzumaki, and even though Cat Diary is an autobiographical story about life as a pet owner, Ito brings all of his skill as a horror genius to the table... Recommended." -Otaku USA Magazine "Incredibly memorable...Whether you're a die-hard Ito fan, a cat lover, or both, you will absolutely adore this manga." -Dread Central "Junji Ito proves just as adept at capturing life with kitties as he is at horror, and the story is by turns touching, hilarious, and heartbreaking." -Anime News Network
