Description

Age range 3 to 6 Learn fun facts about dinosaurs and the scientists who study them, called paleontologists, with simple hands-on activities for young readers Did you know that a dinosaur bone is a fossil? Or that the same bones that form your ear form the jaw bones in a Tyrannosaurus Rex? The activities, designed to engage both the readers' hands and minds, include fossilising a sponge, making origami dinosaur tracks, preserving toy bugs in gummy amber, and more! Little Leonardo's Fascinating World of Paleontology acts as a hybrid of Little Leonardo's Fascinating World of books and Little Leonardo's MakerLab books, which are both part of the Little Leonardo series from Gibbs Smith.

Reviews

"Great intro to fossils for little dinosaur fans with cute illustrations. I loved the suggested activities at the back, the section spotlighting a small but diverse group of famous paleontologists, and the glossary for all the bolded vocabulary words introduced in the text."--remreader "LibraryThing" (11/8/2021 12:00:00 AM) "This is a great educational book, and perfect for any kid's STEM collection. I loved that it helped define things throughout and highlighted people who contributed to the field. The illustrations are fun and engaging. My five year old was busy asking questions through the entire book."--Asbjorn.Academy "LibraryThing" (10/2/2021 12:00:00 AM) "This would be a fantastic book for dinosaur-obsessed youngsters looking to read something more in-depth without overwhelming them with huge blocks of text. The glossary will allow them to work through the new subject-specific language themselves, building confidence along with the knowledge. I was really impressed with this Little Leonardo book and know I'll be picking up more of them in the future."--Sophie Brown "GeekMom" (3/2/2021 12:00:00 AM) "This book is an awesome mix of information and activities! Do I want to fossilize stuff in jello like bugs get encased in amber? Yup, sure do. This is a great introductory book with pretty diverse characters, and could be a great way for those readers that like hands-on activities to either extend learning or engage them. There are paleontologists of note in the back, which are mostly white-passing folks, but I appreciate the extra individuals to check out for the extra interested reader."-- "The Tiny Activist" (4/16/2021 12:00:00 AM)
