The Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation looks back over ten years and celebrates contemporary arts and culture with an exclusive exhibition and catalogue of the collection, featuring 60 international artists and 200 works. 2005 marks the Tenth Anniversary of the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and to celebrate the contemporary art foundation, first founded in 1995 by Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, the Fondazione will show a huge-scale presentation of key works from the Collection. Bidibidobidiboo features major works from the contemporary art collection, which reflects the art scene of the last two decades. The works range in media from installation, photography, painting, video, and sculpture, featuring over sixty artists such as Doug Aitken, Matthew Barney, Vanessa Beecroft, Richard Billingham, James Casebere, Maurizio Cattelan, Tacita Dean, Dinos & Jake Chapman, Tony Cragg, Thomas Demand, Urs Fisher, Katharina Fritsch, Liam Gillick, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Douglas Gordon, Andreas Gursky, Mona Hatoum, Thomas Hirschhorn, Damien Hirst, Carsten Holler, Gary Hume, Jenny Holzer, Anish Kapoor, Mike Kelley, William Kentridge, Barbara Kruger, Louise Lawler, Sherrie Levine, Sharon Lockhart, Sarah Lucas, Steve Mc Queen, Paul McCarthy, Shirin Neshat, Julian Opie, Tony Ousler, Gabriel Orozco, Philippe Parreno, Jennifer Pastor, Raymond Pettibon, Richard Prince, Charles Ray, Thomas Ruff, Cindy Sherman, Sam Taylor-Wood, Wolfgang Tillmans, Rosemarie Trockel, Nobuko Tsuchiya, Piotr Uklanski, Gillian Wearing, Rachel Whiteread, Jeff Wall. Founded in 1995 by the contemporary art collector Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and directed by Francesco Bonami, the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo set up its first gallery in 1997. History was made in the following years with some of today's hottest international artists passing through to make up a rich exhibition programme as well as the last five editions of the art prize Premio Regione Piemonte, featuring the likes of Doug Aitken, Vanessa Beecroft, Maurizio Cattelan and Shirin Neshat. The Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo has since produced a range of exhibitions including L.A. Times in 1998; Sogni/Dreams in 1999; Identidades Futuras: Reflejos de una Coleccion for ARCO Mardid in 2002; New Ocean by Doug Aitken in 2003; How latitudes become Forms: Art in a Global age in 2003; Carol Rama and Non Toccare la Donna Bianca in 2004 - as well as presenting a host of exhibitions that have come from co-projects with other international art institutions such as the Hara Museum in Tokyo, the Serpentine Gallery in London, the Walker Art Centre in Minneapolis and the Baltic Mill in Gateshead etc.
Author Biography
Francesco Bonami is the Artistic Director of the Fondazione. He is also an internationally known curator, writer, critic, and the Lewis Manilow Senior Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. He was Director of the 2003 Venice Biennale.
