Description
Gangsters embodied on the screen by Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert de Niro, Alain Delon and other iconic actors have become modern legends, and the movies narrating their rise and fall are as popular as some of the best romantic comedies. This book fills a gap by exploring this beloved genre through the prism of 100 iconic movies by directors from all over the globe. You will revive the excitement of unforgettable scenes and dialogues, discover some half-forgotten gems, and learn more about the stories behind these masterpieces of action and suspense, often inspired by true events.
Author Biography
After a career of over twenty years in the book industry as international sales manager and then as managing director for several art publishers, Pierre Toromanoff co-founded with his wife Agata a book packaging agency in 2014. Since then, he has authored several publications on contemporary art, pop culture, and fashion. His passion for the Golden Age of French cinema (1930s and early 1940s) was the starting point for an interest in the timeless genres of gangster films, war movies, westerns, and romantic comedies. He lives in France.
