Description
Mohamed Hamidi is a Moroccan artist born in 1941, he studied in the Casablanca School of Beaux-Arts. He completed his training in Paris, where he joined the School of Applied Arts and the National School of Fine Arts. In 1969 he participated in the well-known exhibition of Jamaa El-Fna Square, which marks the history of modern art in Morocco. Hamidi is a founding member of the Moroccan Association of Fine Arts, his work is exhibited around the entire world. He has collaborated with many Moroccan artists (Melehi, Belkahia, Chebaa) in order to create a form of contemporary art speci c to Morocco, freed from the colonial point of view. His work is inspired by traditional aesthetics and craftsmanship. He uses these elements to create a fragmented and colourful representation of the human body.
