Tending the Landscape of the Heart contains poems that will offer rewards to those who return to them for many years to come. Although conversational in tone, they are underpinned by a subtlety and awareness of nuance that recalls that of a great poet such as Seamus Heaney. The poems employ a direct and apparent simplicity of language to reveal the deeper complexities of what it means to be human. I found them a refreshing change from the wilful obscurity of much post-modern verse. - Bob Orr
