Description
John Codd and Roy Nash lived the role of critic and conscience. During long academic careers at Massey University, they made lasting contributions to educational scholarship and to education policy and practice in this country, and they achieved international recognition for their work. John Codd was best known for his robust analysis and critique of education policies based on neo-liberal thinking. Roy Nash's central concern was inequality and educational achievement. Both embarked on their academic pathways in psychology but went on to draw from across the education disciplines. The contributors to this memorial volume honour the legacy of these two important educationalists, while at the same time critiquing and engaging with their work in new ways. These essays are grounded in and move beyond John Codd and Roy Nash's ideas to offer inspiration and challenge to a new generation of education thinkers. With a dedication from Massey University Vice-Chancellor Steve Maharey, foreword by Emeritus Professor Ivan Snook and preface by James Chapman, Professor of Educational Psychology and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College of Education.
