Description
Politician, feminist and champion for social equality, Jacinda Ardern epitomizes the modern leader. In this warm and candid interview, the fortieth Prime Minister of New Zealand discusses her childhood growing up in rural Aotearoa New Zealand, her journey into politics, and the lessons she has learned along the way. From her thoughts on climate change and women's rights, to the horrific Christchurch mosque attacks, she reflects on the matters and moments that have impacted her most. With sincerity and insight, she highlights the importance of kindness, compassion and inclusivity, while stressing the need for authenticity in a fast-paced and highly digitized world. At once inspiring and uplifting, her words are a compelling reminder of our shared humanity and a call to action to young leaders and activists around the world. Created in collaboration with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, I Know This to Be True is an uplifting new series inspired by his legacy. Extraordinary figures from diverse backgrounds answer the same questions, sharing their compelling stories, guiding ideals, and insightful wisdom. The result is a collection brimming with messages of leadership, courage, compassion, and hope. Delivered in lovely, giftable hardcovers with vivid photographic portraits throughout, these books offer encouragement and guidance to future leaders, and anyone hoping to make a positive impact on the world.
Author Biography
Jacinda Ardern is a New Zealand politician and Member of Parliament. In 2017 she became leader of the New Zealand Labour Party and was elected Prime Minister of New Zealand. She is the country's third female prime minister, and the country's youngest. She has been acknowledged with multiple global recognitions, and was named on TIME magazine's '100 Most Influential People of 2019' list, and Forbes magazine's '25 Most Powerful Female Political Leaders of 2017' list. She lives in New Zealand with her partner, Clarke Gayford, a television presenter and host of popular fishing documentary show Fish of the Day. In 2018 they welcomed their first child, Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford, and Ardern became only the second elected leader in the world to give birth while in office. Three months later, she made international news when she brought Gayford, who is Neve's primary caregiver, together with Neve to the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York.
