Description
In the late 1960s and 1970s, vinyl ruled! Fans showed their love and investment in a particularly rock and roll band by paying about $10 ($75 in today s money) for a dozen songs etched into 40 minutes of a vinyl long play or LP record. Not only did fans receive a collection of great songs, they were presented with a window into another world concept albums, rock operas, progressive rock, acid trips and new worlds packaged in wonderful pieces of pop art called record covers! Classic Albums That Changed My Life chronicles the inside story about the making of a dozen great albums, starting with the Beatles White Album in 1968 to Elton John s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in 1973. In each chapter, the recording process is discussed and the inspiration for each song is investigated but more importantly, the place that both the band and the album now hold in popular culture is fully explored. This is an authoritative but affectionate look back at a time when hair was long, denim ruled and the daggiest guy at school could immediately be cool if turned up to a party with the right record under his arm. Includes wonderfully evocative images of the featured albums.
