Description
An exceptional book for children about emotional intelligence and learning to deal with the many ranges of human emotions. Some days I feel mad. Some days I feel sad. Some days I feel smiling-ear-to-ear glad...Emotions can be strange, sudden, and even overwhelming at times. Through thoughtful words and expressive images, this book guides us on a journey through our imagination... to a place where everything feels calm again.

Reviews"[A] girl's untethered imagination is unleashed in the superb OUT, OUT, AWAY FROM HERE . . . The illustrations are vivid and misshapen, with bleeding Gauguin reds and a hint of Rousseau's overstuffed jungles. Things reach a boiling point after the girl's parents are seen in silhouette screaming at each other - to Miao's credit she doesn't temper the terror of the moment - and our heroine, unable to take it anymore, runs through a wooden door and takes refuge in her imagination."-The New York Times "Miao uses bright watercolors to paint a narrative subtext into the pictures." -Kirkus Reviews "With its advice, soothing text, and expressionistic paintings, this wonderfully crafted work may help young children process their feelings on difficult days. Perfect for SEL collections and small group read-alouds." -School Library Journal "Out, Out, Away from Here is a charming children's book that introduces them to handling their different emotions and limitless capacity for imagination. The artwork is absolutely stunning and done in a vibrant watercolour style palette. The expressions of the little girl we see in this story are one of the main highlights for me and it beautifully illustrates the different emotions a child might be facing and how they could cope with them. Another lovely title I just can't recommend enough!" -Varsha Ravi, Between Bookends
