Description
A fantastic concertina book that serves as a height chart and a measuring tool to help curious kids get excited about mathematics and measuring. It can either be hung on a wall or kids can take it around the house filling in the activities on the reverse; what's bigger - your teddy or a box of cereal? Your mum or your bathtub? Weight and volume are also explored. With big, bold illustrations and immaculate design and packaging, this is both utilitarian design and practical math in action

ReviewsON PRINTED PAPER REVIEW: Bigger. A Foldout Measuring Activity Book by Eleonora Marton, for Cicada Books, is a poster to hang on the wall, a meter to carry around, a graph to measure height, a colorful book to lay on the floor. 214 cm of small stories to read, curiosities to discover, measures to take, experiments to verify. What is the smallest room in your home? How long are the kitchen table and the bathtub? Is the TV or the small window of your room bigger? How big is your thumb? What is the distance between your wrist and your elbow? Is it true that when we lie down for a long time, we gain height? How long is your foot? Now step through your room. How many steps/feet did you need? Is your dad or a small giraffe taller? An endless series of measures to take, both inside and outside the home. A fun activity book to use alone or with friends. A book to give to curious children, to discover the world and look more closely at their surroundings. Bigger asks all sorts of mathy questions (fun ones, actually!). The book is made up of one giant ruler that you can fold out, lay on the floor and use to measure. There are opportunities for comparing and estimating, and fun tidbits about world height and length records. Both centimeters and inches are used in the book. -AveryandAugustine
