Winter Gardens
Hardback
Main Details
Description
In winter, the garden takes on a new, almost mystical guise. Stripped bare, its bones are revealed and its delicate beauty exposed.Colours drain away, fading to sepia brown and inky black, focusing the eye on shape and texture and encouraging us to slow down and appreciate the breathtaking beauty and detail of nature. Winter Gardens explores 12 extraordinary and contrasting gardens, some designed by renowned garden designers, some developed by their owners over many years. Andrew Montgomery's exquisite full-colour and black and white photographs present the winter garden through a new lens, highlighting shape, texture and structure, and celebrating the elements that make these gardens as beautiful in winter as they are throughout the rest of the year. Accompanying essays and interviews by Clare Foster explore the history, design and planting of each garden, along with practical notes on topics from topiary and seed heads to winter blooms, providing inspiration for your own winter garden.
