Description
RE-ISSUE An entirely new approach to jewellery making, this book teaches you how to create dramatic, eye-catching wire and bead jewellery using newly developed techniques, including crocheting with wire and using pre-knitted wires. There is now a huge range of wires widely available to the crafter, from brightly coloured wires originally used in science and technology, to silver-plated, enamel-coated and copper wire. When partnered with gleaming gemstones, miniature seed beads, shimmering crystals and rich fire-polished beads, these humble wires become a work of art, and a highly covetable piece of unique jewellery. This book provides 35 projects and variations, all illustrated with step-by-step photography and clear instructions, plus beautiful, close-up photographs of the finished pieces. The projects range from the subtle and sophisticated (such as delicate crystal and wire bracelets, an Egyptian style necklace, brooches of twisted wire, and a pearl studded choker) to fun, informal pieces (such as coiled wire earrings in brightly coloured wire, bejewelled barrettes and combs, a cocktail ring, and hand-made felt beads strung together to make a necklace). There are projects you will want to make for special occasions, such as a stunning tiara that would be perfect for a bride, and a crystal and pearl evening choker. There are also sections on the tools and materials that you will need to get started, plus a comprehensive basic techniques chapter.
