A copy of Illumination for Calligraphy by Janet Mehigan is contained in the kit along with materials that have been exactly matched to the projects in the book and tested by the author of the book. The kit contains the following calligraphy materials and equipment: 2 X Gilt Round Hand Nibs - traditional calligraphy nibs in decorative finish used for a number of writing styles including Roman Round Hand, Italic, Gothic and Uncial. Can be used with gouache and ink. 1 X Ornamental 400 Nib which can be used with gouache and ink for infill and decorative motives, e.g., dots and flourishes. 1 X Copperplate 41 Nib especially used for the fine 'Copperplate' style and detailed work such as scrolls and tendrils. 1 X 300 Nib for all purpose outlining of letters and designs 1 X Sable Paintbrush for filling nibs with ink and detailed infill of colour and gouache. 1 X HB Pencil, Multipurpose - for line drawing, practising letters and transferring designs. 2 X Bottles of Ink, Calligraphy black ink and acrylic gold ink for letters and infill 1 X Tube of Gold Gouache for illumination to produce 'goldleaf' effect. 1 X Tube of White Highlighting Gouache for producing light and shade effect in detailed designs

Janet Mehigan has always been interested in calligraphy and lettering; they were her main subjects when she attended art college. She holds a BA(Hons) in Education, is a Fellow of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators and a Fellow of the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society. She currently teaches calligraphy and art in Adult Education, holds regular weekend workshops for students and calligraphic. Her calligraphic work is full of colour and interest and she enjoys both traditional and contemporary calligraphy.
