Fuksas: Leading Architects

Studio Fuksas, led by Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, is one of the most outstanding international architectural firms in the world. With headquarters in Rome, Paris and Shenzhen, the past 40 years have seen the company develop an innovative approach through a strikingly wide variety of projects, ranging from urban interventions to airports, from museums, cultural centers, spaces for music, and convention centres to offices, private houses and interior design. Fuksas has an international reputation and has completed more than 600 projects across Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Australia, and has received numerous international awards. From large to small scale, the holistic approach of Studio Fuksas allows the firm to devise completely integrated design solutions.

Massimiliano Fuksas was born in Rome in 1944 and has been one of the leaders in contemporary architecture since the 1980s. He has been visiting professor at a number of universities, including those in New York, Paris, Wien and Stuttgart. He was the author of L'Espresso's architecture column, founded by Bruno Zevi, from 2000 to 2015. For many years, he has devoted special attention to addressing urban problems in large metropolitan areas. He now lives and works in Rome and Paris. Doriana Fuksas was born in Rome where she graduated in history of modern and contemporary architecture at the University of Rome's La Sapienza in 1979. She continued to study architecture at Ecole Speciale d Architecture in Paris, with didactic activities at the Institute of History of Arts at the Faculty of Letters and Arts and at Industrial Design Department ITACA at La Sapienza . She has curated four "Special Projects" at the 7th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice. With husband Massimiliano Fuksas, she was co-author of the design column in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica in 2014 and 2015. She now lives and works in Rome and Paris.
