Description
Through extracts from diaries, letters to the editor, parliamentary debates and other sources, this volume documents the key issues faced by Australian women since Federation. It illustrates the shifts in relationships between women and men, women's experiences in the two World Wars, increasing participation by women in paid work, the position of Aboriginal and migrant women, and the growth of feminism. Together with its companion volume, "Freedom Bound I", which deals with the 18th and 19th centuries, it offers a comprehensive collection of documentary material on the history of Australian women. Marilyn Lake is a co-author of "Creating A Nation", and Katie Holmes is the author of "Spaces In Her Day".
