Frederick Litchfield (1850-1930) was a well-known furniture expert whose other works include Pottery and Porcelain: A Guide to Collectors and How to Collect Old Furniture. The popularity of his Illustrated History of Furniture on its publication was such that seven editions were produced between the years 1892 and 1922.
