Description

Three renowned watercolour artists show how to paint beautiful and convincing landscapes. Pull-out outlines are provided for the fourteen step-by-step demonstrations, so that readers can bypass the drawing stage and get straight on to painting. There are traditional landscapes including a poppy field, a doorway and a village in the snow by Terry Harrison, trees and woodlands by Geoff Kersey and hills and mountains by Arnold Lowrey. Based on the Search Press titles Ready to Paint Watercolour Landscapes, Ready to Paint Trees & Woodlands and Ready to Paint Hills & Mountains.

Author Biography

Terry Harrison became interested in art early on, attending Art School at the age of sixteen. His studies led to a career in graphics, then he became an illustrator, developing his own painting style and perfecting his techniques during evenings and weekends. Demand grew for his paintings and he soon gave up his 'day job' to paint full time. Now he is kept constantly busy with a full schedule of exhibitions, private commissions, demonstrations and painting holidays. His fine art prints are sold in shops and galleries everywhere and he has recently opened a successful art gallery where he displays and sells his paintings. Terry is an energetic and prolific painter and his regular re-bookings for demonstrations reflect an enthusiastic response to his educational and entertaining style. Geoff Kersey is an experienced watercolourist and is much in demand as a teacher and demonstrator. He lives and works in Derbyshire where he has a studio, and he exhibits extensively. He has made two watercolour videos and contributes to various art publications. Arnold Lowrey has been painting in a variety of media for over twenty-five years. His motivation has been the use of light in painting, but he now experiments more with colour and texture. His seascapes are especially vibrant and full of movement. Arnold also likes painting still life, landscapes, portraits and abstracts. He exhibits his paintings in Wales and London. Arnold holds regular weekend workshops and weekly painting courses, residential watercolour courses and demonstrations for Art Societies. he is also a painting demonstrator for several art material suppliers.

Reviews

Search Press have been on to a winner with their award-winning Ready To Paint series, and now here is a compendium volume of pictures to please budding artists. For anybody reading this who wonders what all the fuss is about this new concept allows tyro artists to practice their painting skills without the need to be able to draw. Each book contains several pull-out tracings to transfer to paper and all the illustrated instructions to produce some very fine work indeed. The fourteen projects in here are taken from three earlier books, but for anybody new to wtercolor painting and wanting a good selection of different pictures to tackle then this bigger book is good value. You would need to want to paint landscapes, as that is what you will find in here. Choose between views across fields, of woods (my favorite is the bluebell wood), rivers, mountains, sea views and snow scenes. As usual each project contains a full list of all the types of brush, named paints and other materials you need and there are a large number of easy stages. I particularly like the way you can see what the painting looks like at each stage, and each caption is short and to the point. Each picture gives the person painting it a chance to learn new skills, from getting clouds right to painting snow, showing a myriad of flowers or getting to grips with masking fluid. It truly is a pretty foolproof way of learning to paint and I wish it had been around when I was learning. I can imagine this book making an excellent gift for the would-be artist on many present lists.-Myshelf.com Traditional landscapes including a poppy field, a doorway and a village in the snow by Terry Harrison, trees and woodlands by Geoff Kersey, and hills and mountains by Arnold Lowrey. We know that many of you have followed Terry Harrison's career through nationwide exhibitions and have taken up painting as a pastime. Here's a great book of renowned watercolour artists showing how to paint landscapes, trees, woodlands, hills and mountains. Outlines are provided for the 14 step-by-step projects so readers can bypass the drawing and get straight on to painting.-Machine Knitting Monthly
