Description

In the woods outside the town of Willnot, the remains of several people have been discovered, unnerving the community and unsettling Dr Lamar Hale, the town's doctor and town conscience. At the same time, Bobby Lowndes mysteriously reappears in his hometown, at Hale's door. Over the ensuing months, the daily dramas Hale faces as he tends to his town and to his partner, Richard, collide with the inexplicable vagaries of life in Willnot. And when a gunshot aimed at Lowndes critically wounds Richard, Hale's world is truly upended.

Reviews

A poet, Sallis packs a wealth of human experience into a small space -- Jake Kerridge * The Telegraph * a slippery, poetic mystery that becomes a love story to small town America -- Ian Rankin Sallis has the unique ability to accurately describe his landscapes in a way that truly brings the reader closer to the characters experiences -- Wayne Schutsky * Modern Times Magazine * His latest, Willnot, is as good as anything he's written -- Doug Johnstone * Bloody Scotland * What if James Sallis wrote a long poem (for he is a poet) and called it 'Willnot'? I think he did, and then he did -- Barbara Tom * Murder By The Book *
