ReviewsKirkus Reviews https: //www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/danielle-brown/run-like-a-girl/ "How lucky it is to be told you run like a girl! This collection, written by a multi-medalist Paralympic athlete, presents 50 portraits of strong, resilient, and influential athletes from every reach of the sporting world. Each profile contains two columns of narrative information, biographical details, and a callout box with a smattering of facts; these work together to remind readers that all success comes with its share of struggle. The athletes spotlighted in this book span socio-economic levels, races, ethnicities, abilities, and ages, showing that passion and perseverance are what matter most. Most importantly, maybe, is that the collection demonstrates that small achievements are just as worthy of celebration as the big shining moments. Being an athlete encompasses many lifestyles: Some have day jobs, some have advanced educational degrees, some are ambassadors for the United Nations, and many have been given honors by the leaders of their countries." These 50 women pushed the limits and overcame doubts and showed the world what they were made of. Find out who motivated these amazing athletes, listen to the challenges they faced, and watch them overcome and truly inspire all of us. I personally loved that the author also included herself in the book! I bet you want to run like a girl now don't you?" @livvybirdlife Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CUsZHPlITLk/ "We have honestly loved going through it and reading about so many amazingly strong, resilient women thriving by doing what they love...such a good read and for my sport loving girl, it's really added fuel to her fire." @inclusivestorytime Instagram review "Run Like a Girl features 50 extraordinary athletes of all abilities, races, and cultures. Admittedly I do love that it is not only US athletes like so many books on the North American market - and features athletes in all sports from Syria to the UK to Brazil and beyond. There is also considerable attention to detail in including Disabled athletes every few pages, which takes away the othering tokenization I am so unfortunately accustomed to seeing in similar anthologies of athletes." @thelittlelibrarysociety Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CTQDc4NqSR4/ "Exactly as an anthology about iconic figures should be, this one features disabled and non-disabled folx with equity, with excellent LGBTQA+ representation and women from all over the world. Importantly, it raises the question of how one tackles adversity and setbacks, with examples of amazing growth mindset and the idea that 'practice makes progress'." @homeplaylearn Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CTMCcsAMMr0/ "A fantastic celebration of amazing female athletes from across the world who have overcome barriers, experienced failure and success, broken records and made remarkable achievements in different sports. This book is inspiring for young women who have a dream and want to fight for it to become a reality. Read about female athletes who are passionate, motivated, strong and positive - something many of us aspire to be. Discover their stories and backgrounds as well as their facts and achievements. These women are extremely inspirational even if you are not a keen sportsperson yourself. A wonderful book that is definitely one to be shared and discussed." @edspire Instagram reviewhttps: //www.instagram.com/p/CSpeAhtMzAy/ "Run Like A Girl shares the stories of 50 female athletes from across the globe. Fierce competitors, comeback queens, thrill seekers, change makers and barrier breakers. This book shows young readers that they can overcome obstacles and that with passion and hard work you can achieve your dreams. This book shows us all never to give up. It reminds us all to stay curious, be positive and meet challenges head on. We have loved reading about the women we watched compete in the Olympics and now cannot wait to watch others compete in the Paralympics. This is a stunning book filled with striking illustrations, packed with facts and punctuated with inspiring quotes. A reminder that failing can teach us just as much as winning. To believe in our dreams and reach for the stars. Because we can." @bookishwaytoplay Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CTuFtoesYoi/ "My daughter has always been keen to try new sports and activities, so she has been avidly reading this brilliant book of biographies from an inspiring woman herself! There's a really interesting mix of people, life stories and, of course, sports, but what unites every entry is each person's resilience, determination and self-belief...any book that can encourage our little women (and men) to reach for the stars is alright by me. I love the bold graphics and the chunky cover. It feels comprehensive and thorough." @books.my.kid.choseInstagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CUjjA1fqtPB/ "Yes it's about real sportswomen but it's also utterly empowering and encouraging for its readers. We discover so much more than the sporting prowess of these ladies. It's about bravery, determination, compassion, and ingenuity. The illustrations are modern and powerful, enabling you to recognise the personalities but also put yourself in their place." @paper.renInstagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CUX8gYgK0Z_/ "the book is an empowering and inclusive anthology of extraordinary sportswomen, that is packed with motivation to help fuel a passion or dream - motivation that is not strictly limited to the sports field." @myliteracyspace Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CTVnjkOD54v/ "This book introduces children to so many different sports and the brilliant athletes that compete and work hard to accomplish BIG goals. Each one shares a quote that inspire and empower readers to be comfortable in their skin and not give up even when situations seem impossible." @nooksb4bedtime Instagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CUX8gYgK0Z_/ "This wonderful book is a collection of 50 stories of female sportswomen who are some of the finest in the world...The book features boxing legend, Nicola Adams, to record-breaking yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur and the fearless mountain biker Rachel Atherton...As you can see the illustrations are great and so engaging." @home.read.playInstagram review https: //www.instagram.com/p/CTUBD4uqyie/ "There was a time when the phrase 'you run like a girl' was a derogatory term, meant as an insult, but thanks to todays incredibly strong sportswomen, that stereotype has been turned on its head and to 'run like a girl' invokes being brave, fierce, ambitious and tough!"
