Description
Ever dreamed of having your very own garden retreat? Off-the-shelf sheds aren't always the answer - the cheap ones are badly made and freezing cold, and the better quality ones are really expensive. But what if you could build your own shed from scratch? How to Build a Shed is the ultimate practical guide. With its clear, easy-to-follow instructions, expert advice and specially commissioned illustrations, you'll be able to source the materials, choose the right tools and build your dream shed on a budget - even if you've never used a hammer.
Author Biography
Sally Coulthard has written extensively about sheds, homes and gardens. Sally also runs her own private garden design practice. Lee John Phillips is an artist, teacher and illustrator based in Wales. He estimates that there are 100,000 objects in his grandfather's shed. He has currently drawn 4,600 of them.
Reviews"Sheds and man caves; the idea of a garden escape is so popular that author and designer Sally Coulthard has written a step-by-step guide to building your own private hideaway in just two weeks for a mere GBP2,500. How To Build A Shed, published by Laurence King Publishing, is equally useful for people who might want to customise their existing shed, perhaps by adding a living roof full of plants or installing electricity." -- Daily Express "Never picked up a hammer before but still dream of building your own garden retreat? This book may be just the ticket, with easy-to-follow instructions and illustrations teaching you how to source materials, choose the right tools and build your dream shed on a budget. That's your 2019 project sorted!" -- Real Homes "Armed with a can-do attitude, [Sally] decided to have a go at building her own and the result is a stunning writer's retreat...It's aimed at DIY novices who, like her, are willing to "have a go" and it features very clear, easy-to-follow instructions, expert advice on sourcing tools and materials, along with detailed illustrations and instructions." Yorkshire Post "Clear, accessible and never patronising, it is not only this year's best handbook for people considering building their own garden office, it also has rather natty endpapers." Shedworking "Sally Coulthard's inspirational book 'How to Build a Shed' provides you with a step-by-step guide to creating your own 'hole-and-corner' in the bottom of your garden. There are brilliant illustrations by Lee John Phillips to complement Sally's instructions throughout the book" Hole and Corner magazine "A complete practical guide to building your own shed with step-by-step instructions and useful labelled diagrams" Gardens Illustrated "What grown-up doesn't dream of their own little oasis to retreat from the world? This gem of a book tells you how to build one" The Herald
