Description

When an entertainer dressed as a big cuddly bear arrives at a fancy dress party, the children are delighted. He makes them hoot with laughter as he drinks water from a vase, goes wild on his skateboard and bursts all the balloons. So after a fond farewell at the end of the day, everyone is surprised when another entertainer turns up, full of apologies for being late. A hilarious romp from the inimitable Emma Dodd.

Reviews

Written in easy to read rhyme, The Entertainer is the fun story of an entertainer hired for a children's birthday party. The entertainer arrives dressed as a bear and goes on to cause havoc at the party, which all goes down very well with the guests. He slips on a skateboard, drinks the water from a vase of flowers, bursts balloons and eats the party food before falling asleep on the table. OF course, as soon as he leaves, the doorbell rings and the real entertainer arrives! This is a genuinely funny story enhanced by the bold and vibrant illustrations that will make children laugh out loud. Text is emphasised by increased font size and the writer adds little asides to point things out to the reader. Published as a large format soft backed book, The Entertainer will live up to its name by providing the perfect entertainment for young listeners. -- Elizabeth Baskeyfield * The School Librarian Journal *
