Post-war political, economic, and cultural relations are placed in their historical context and the modernization processes in each country are compared. Dr. Taylor is Senior Reserach felloe at the centre for japanese Studies at the University of Stirling. His previous book was 'The Sino-Hapanese Axis: A New Force in Asia?' (Athlone, 1985)
