Description
Friendship is like a train journey. There are happy moments, boring moments and exciting moments. There is anger and loneliness, and there is forgiveness, and the thread of friendship runs through everything, like rail tracks through the countryside. Brilliantly rendered by Danny Parker and Freya Blackwood, Molly and Mae is a portrait of the most delightful and emotionally rich train journey imaginable.
Author Biography
AuthorA teacher for more than 20 years, father-of-two Danny Parker started writing picture books three years ago. His first book, Tree, secured him a notable award from the CBCA, while his third book, Parachute, was shortlisted for the CBCA Picture Book of the Year and was added to the prestigious White Ravens list. Danny holds an honours degree in theatre from Leeds University and a Diploma of Education and has recently been appointed as writer in residence at Hale School. IllustratorFreya Blackwood is one of the most talented children's illustrators in the world today. Her stunning and iconic illustrations perfectly capture the warmth and complexity of growing up. While warm and classic, her style has a unique quality that renders her work instantly recognisable. The pathos of her characters is a joy to behold, and her work has deservedly captured international attention and a swag of awards and nominations. These include the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal (2010), which is the UK's most prestigious award for children's illustration, and multiple CBCA awards. Freya lives in Orange, NSW, with her daughter, Ivy.
