Author Biography

Genevieve Timmons has been active in philanthropy and grantmaking for over three decades, as an executive, trustee, board member, advisor and consultant. Having worked with several major foundations in Australia and New Zealand, she has helped many donors, families and trustees to establish and develop contemporary giving programs. She has assessed thousands of funding proposals, conducted evaluations and professional development sessions. In her early career Genevieve was a founding staff member of the CERES project in Brunswick, Victoria. She is currently Philanthropic Executive for the Portland House Foundation, a private family foundation with a charter to assist people to move out of situations of disadvantage. She also has a governance role with the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture, the Fellowship for Indigenous Leadership, and Reconciliation Victoria. Genevieve is a Fellow of Leadership Victoria and a Senior Fellow of the Johns Hopkins International Fellows in Philanthropy Program. Genevieve lives in an inner suburb of Melbourne.
