Author Biography
Alice Vinten has been a lover of all things craft since childhood. Her passion for mosaic has developed during ten years of dedicated cutting, nipping, smashing and creating. She has sold commissioned mosaics across the UK and Europe, her work has been displayed in local art galleries and complemented for their innovative use of light and colour. Her pieces are unique, using traditional methods to create modern designs. Alice has written craft tutorials for UK magazines and runs a popular community craft page on Facebook. When she is not making, she is thinking about what she will make next, and has a strong desire to share her passion for mosaic with other craft lovers. Alice is drawn to bright colours and sparkling reflections, an obsession fuelled by her love of Barcelona and all things Antoni Gaudi. She integrates a wide range of materials into her mosaics, including broken china, mirror and even re-purposed jewellery. She is a keen up-cycler and delights in re-purposing unwanted items into beautiful ornaments. She lives in Essex, England, and is mother to three lively boys, if you include her husband.
