Description
In his very first adventure, Florian the Fly starts out being quite unhappy. The weather this summer in Germany is cold and wet, and considering that his lifespan is only 4 weeks, he seeks to find a place that is warm and sunny. Luckily for him, he learns about the triplets who are planning on traveling to see their aunt in Florida. With the help of an unlikely ally, he manages to accompany the girls on their flight to Florida. There he makes new friends, learns English, and discovers his new purpose in life. He gains a new power and becomes a hero to other insects who are threatened, endangered, or have found themselves far away from their native countries, longing to return home. Throughout his adventures, he learns new languages, discovers diverse cultures and makes lifelong friends. The stories in this series are written in English and in the language of the insect he rescues. Great for parents wishing to keep their children fluent in their native language while learning English or vice-versa.
Author Biography
Born in Germany, Petra Szmykowski-Britton immigrated to the United States with her mother and American stepfather many years ago. It was quite difficult for her upon her arrival in Florida, not speaking a word of English and looking very German with her pigtails. It was her knowledge of foreign languages, which lead to opportunities in international banking and teaching. Now retired, she spends her time between Florida and Arkansas, oftentimes traveling to see her family and friends in Germany and other countries overseas, always on the lookout for new adventures, diverse cultures, nature, and acquiring new foreign language skills.
