When Charles Oatman, Boulder City banker, reported that bandits had stolen upwards of thirty-five thousand dollars, he was secretly including his own defalcations in that amount. Actually the sum stolen by the bandits was scarcely seven thousand dollars, as Rocky Jeanette, who had organized the robbery, knew only too well. Now Rocky also understood the lack of resistance and the belated pursuit.
