Description

One morning a little girl named Anna Marie wakes up because a terrible ice storm has broken her window. Suddenly, a calico cat brings her kittens through a window and Anna Marie can't wait to show her mommy. But Anna Marie's parents aren't home! She thinks they must be with her grandmother, Toesie. The cat agrees to accompany Anna Marie on her walk to Toesie's house which is five blocks away, as long as her kittens can stay and rest in Anna Marie's bed. They set off for Toesie's, but all the ice from the storm melts and the bridge across the Rock Creek is flooded. Charles agrees to lead Anna Marie through the woods to a higher bridge where she hopes they will be able to cross. They have many exciting encounters on their journey, including an applecopter that almost hits a baby bird learning to fly, a snake with a pair of goggles that allow him to see the true nature of things, and a very unnatural war between an army of frogs and an injured coyote. But they also make some great new friends who help them along. A really fun book for anyone who likes to make up stories while they walk through the woods eating cookies!

Author Biography

In 2013 the author moved to Portland, Oregon. He was recruited to survey a mile long stretch of The Rock Creek which will be excavated to a depth of twenty meters, transported into orbit and then reassembled within a massive starship bound for Alpha Centauri. He is four years old, but he's a cat, and the math is not as straightforward as most people think.
