Author Biography
Music Educator, Producer, Studio Musician, Composer, & Performer (Joseph Glarner) has been playing guitar for 25 years. He attended Musicians Institute in West Hollywood California, and Five Towns College in Long Island NY studying Jazz/Commercial Music Performance for guitar. He has been a studio musician for the last 18 years composing many jingles, scoring music for film, and music for radio and television. He has 5 albums to date, and has produced countless tracks for many artists across the globe, including several artists that have graced the Billboard Charts. In his jazz band The Glarner Group he is proud to have performed with Pennsylvania's Jazz Man of the Year 2006 (by the International Musicians Union) Jazz Trombonist and Vaudville Comedian Pete Pepke Grammy Nominated Musicians Joe & Becky Matczak, and saxophonist Steve Chapel. Joseph also proudly serves as the Musical Director for Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church in Warren PA, and is the East Coast Musical Director for Chenoa Music's Stars of America Tour featuring former American Idol finalists. After many years of reviewing method books and teaching thousands of students to play guitar, Joseph has decided to put out what he feels is the most comprehensive, and systematic guitar method book for beginning guitar players. Dr. Robert Glarner is currently an Associate Professor of Music Theory at Radford University in Virginia. He teaches courses in undergraduate and graduate theory and analyses, aural skills, and composition. He is also an active organ recitalist and composer. Dr. Glarner has taught at Central Connecticut State University, University of Texas - El Paso, Middlebury College, SUNY-Albany, and Williams College. Dr. Glarner received his Ph.D. in Music Theory from the University of Arizona, a Master's in Theory and Composition from the University of Wyoming, and a Bachelor's of Music in Dalcroze Eurhythmics from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
