A lone rider rode onto the Diamond H range and introduced himself as Dane. When asked where he was from, he replied, From down yonder. Despite his cryptic answers, Gordon Hughes, the owner of the Diamond H, decides to hire him as a special hand. Hughes is having problems with rustlers, as well as a boundary dispute with his neighbor Oscar Williams of the Flying W. Danes job will be to find out who is doing the rustling and find a way to keep peace on the range until Hughes can get his beef shipped. And if he can show Williams that hes being a fool and costing them both money, so much the better.
