Like many a veteran of the Civil War, Cap McKenna went west to build a new life. Thanks to a fortuitous meeting with J. Stuart Reynolds, owner of the Reynolds Overland Transportation Company, McKennas homestead in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains was selected as a change station for the horse teams on the run between Denver and Cheyenne.
