Description
* Memoir is one of the top-selling categories of adult nonfiction and adult nonfiction sales have continued to increase while adult fiction sales decline. * Google searches for the essential mother-daughter relationship, from unhealthy and toxic ones to resilient and enduring ones, top the charts, with tens of millions seeking constant information and answers. * Most parents compare themselves to the way they were parented. 72% of parents want their own parents to think they are doing a good job raising their children. * Multi-generational living is on the rise, with feminist grandmothers helping their daughters find the work/life balance they may not have had. * About one third of women in America have young children living at home; these women will likely compare their parenting style to their mothers, and they will struggle with work/life balance. * Somewhere between 40 and 50 percent of people's emotional needs were not met in childhood. * More than ever, families are visiting all-inclusive resorts. The Saturday's Child's family resort was a yearly tradition. * 30 percent of young people are classified as narcissistic according to a widely used psychological test. That number has doubled in the last 30 years. AUDIENCE: * Baby boomer women * Millennial daughters of baby boomer mothers, particularly high-achieving ones * Anyone who was raised by a narcissistic parent * Women with complex mother relationships or who felt unloved by their mothers * Anyone who is an only child * Anyone who has vowed to parent differently than he or she was parented * Anyone who has struggled with identity issues * Anyone who has searched for their authentic self, purpose, and meaning in midlife * Women who read memoirs
