Description
A Tibetan Buddhist master shows how to pull away the veil of preconceived notions of ourselves and the world in order to find true happiness. In this effective, jargon-free guide to the apex of Tibetan Buddhist teachings, Orgyen Chowang empowers us to gradually experience our mind as pure awareness--free from the feelings, thoughts, and other mental events that obscure its true nature. Using simple language, he provides precise, experiential instructions that make this life-transforming realization attainable for all, whether we are just seeking a happier life or are pursuing the spiritual journey all the way to enlightenment.
Author Biography
ORGYEN CHOWANG is a meditation master in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. His primary teacher was Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche, one of the most esteemed Dzogchen masters of the last century and founder of the vast Larung Gar Buddhist community in remote eastern Tibet where tens of thousands of Tibetan and Chinese students continue to benefit from the rigorous study and practice program. Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche was in one of the first small groups that were trained directly under Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche. He has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years and is the founder and spiritual director of Pristine Mind Foundation (www.pristinemind.org). He teaches a wide range of students around the world at tech companies, universities, and yoga studios.
Reviews"A beautiful and potentially life-altering book. The teachings here, at once ancient and revolutionary, are offered with astonishing frankness, clarity, and affection. I felt myself improved by my first read and will be going back to read it again at once."-George Saunders, New York Times best-selling author of Tenth of December and Lincoln in the Bardo "This beautiful book feels like a life-changing conversation with a dear friend who happens to be a wise and compassionate Tibetan teacher. Always clear and encouraging, Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche helps us experience the inherently spacious and peaceful nature of the mind-like being the sky, untroubled and undamaged by whatever storm clouds pass through it. He is plain spoken, practical, and profound. A gem of a book."-Rick Hanson, PhD, New York Times best-selling author of Hardwiring Happiness and Buddha's Brain
