This classic Ziefert Taback board book was named one of the "10 Best Books for Babies" by "Beginning with Books." The fun begins when a rooster's "cock-a-doodle-doo!" is answered with a "moo!" This enduring favorite combines interactivity with Caldecott-winning artist Simms Taback's endearing menagerie of animals. (App also available.)"

Author Biography

Harriet Ziefert knows that young children want to get their hands on and lend their voices to beginning books. She has applied this seemingly simple insight to dozens of enduring and engaging board books, many created in partnership with the great Simms Taback. The author lives in South Orange, NJ. Simms Taback won a Caldecott Honor Award for "There Was an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly" and the Caldecott Medal for "Joseph Had a Little Overcoat." He has also produced award-winning titles for Blue Apple Books, such as "Peek-a-Boo, Who?" (2006 Scholastic Parent & Child Best Book of the Year) and "Simms Taback's Big Book of Words" (2004 Parenting and Child magazines Best Book of the Year, and 2004 Parents' Choice Gold Award winner).

Reviews

Amazon customer review: "We received this book as a gift, and I started to read it to my son when he was just a few weeks old. Even then this book captivated him because the colors and pictures are so engaging. My son is [now] 10 months, but it's clear that this is still his favorite book -- he pulls it off the shelf to look at the pictures and brings it to us to read. Even after reading and re-reading this book for almost a year, the book is still in great condition, we haven't tired of the story yet, and I'm sure we'll be reading it for a long time to come!""With its outrageously colorful pictures, repetitive (predictable for baby) text, and lift-the-flap for the punchline design, it's a brilliant baby and toddler book." --"Parents "magazine
