Description
When someone is first diagnosed with adult attention deficit disorder (ADD), what runs through his or her mind? Hundreds of questions, concerns, and realizations emerge at once, leaving the newly diagnosed person feeling relieved to finally have an explanation for their behavior, but also bewildered at the thought of what this may mean for the future. Adult ADD is a guide just for people like these, who have gone undiagnosed for years, only to find out in adulthood that there is an explanation for their disorganization and inability to focus. In this book, readers will deal with the myriad questions that arise in the wake of an ADD diagnosis: Should you tell people at work? What are you supposed to do to treat it? Does an ADD diagnosis mean you're damaged or flawed? Who else has this disorder? Can you still have a family, friends, a job, and a normal life?Books in the Newly Diagnosed series help readers not only understand the disorder and its treatment, but also help them find social support, work with a treatment team, decide who to tell about the diagnosis, and cope with the feelings they may have about the diagnosis itself. This book ensures that readers have all the tools they need to process the diagnosis in the healthiest way possible. * Approximately 10 million American adults have attention deficit disorder (ADD)* This is the first book targeted specifically to adults who have just been diagnosed with ADD
