Description
Instructors of behavioral neuroscience are faced with the challenge of how to teach the course's complex material in an accessible and relatable, yet comprehensive way for undergraduate students. For more than twenty years, Breedlove and Watson's Behavioral Neuroscience has successfully solved these problems by presenting the most current, definitive, clear, and authoritative introduction to the field. Using stellar examples of today's most exciting research, an unparalleled art program that clarifies even complex biological processes, visual summaries to remind students of the principle findings presented in each chapter, and a comprehensive suite of digital support tools--including animations with built-in assessments that help test the student's knowledge of biological and behavioral processes and neuroanatomy--Behavioral Neuroscience, Ninth Edition, remains the best resource available to teach introductory neuroscience and behavioral neuroscience courses. This title is available as an eBook. Author Biography
S. Marc Breedlove is the Barnett Rosenberg Professor of Neuroscience at Michigan State University. Neil V. Watson is Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada.
Reviews"Behavioral Neuroscience provides a strong foundation upon which clinical psychology students can build their understanding of cognitive, emotional, and physical functional correlates--so important for their future clinical profession!"--Allison Fedio, Argosy University"Behavioral Neuroscience covers topics regarding the brain and nervous system with lucid explanations and figures. The accompanying supplemental materials are a tremendous asset towards augmenting the students' mastery of the material. The text is straightforward, clear, and useful to both instructors and students from many disciplines. I highly recommend it."--Mario Mata, California State University"This comprehensive text makes neuroscience accessible to a wide range of students. It engages students with cutting edge neuroscientific research findings and research methodology behind the biological basis of behavior."--Sarita Lagalwar, Skidmore College"The breadth of topics, beautiful illustrations, and organization provide students with a solid understanding of neuroscience and the biological bases of behavior."--Stephen Lippi, George Mason University"I am greatly impressed by the authors' ability to present this material to psychology students--who may not have much prior biology background--in a way that makes it engaging and approachable. They include clinical examples without sacrificing accuracy or neglecting to acknowledge the complexities and remaining challenges."--Susan Bachus, University of Maryland, Baltimore County"This book is a comprehensive survey of behavioral neuroscience with strong sections on development, evolution, and hormonal regulation of behavior. Highly detailed information about each topic is organized with emphasis on how behaviors are elicited rather than by anatomical connections. Engaging figures throughout the textbook and visual summaries at the end of each chapter provide high quality illustration of challenging concepts."--Jennifer Wilhelm, College of Charleston
