The Flower-Powered Garden is a joyful celebration of one of the most important elements of a home garden-color! With planting themes like royal velvet purples and the breezy blue seaside chic, along with information on plant care and cultivation, home gardeners can confidently add exuberant color to their yards. Discover the joy of a flower-driven garden! For many gardeners, the low-key colors of the naturalistic gardening movement are just too quiet. Andy Vernon, a self-professed flower fanatic, is one of these gardeners. In The Flower- Powered Garden, he urges everyone to embrace one of the most joyful and important parts of a garden-color. The Flower-Powered Garden highlights perennials and annuals that pack a punch, and 15 color combinations that can be used in containers and gardens. The boisterous combinations are inspired by some of Vernon's favorite things-like sherbet, budgies, and candy. A floripedia of 50 marvelous plants includes colorful favorites like dahlias, petunias, hollyhocks, fuchsias, and more. A section on growing details the basics of planting, watering, soil needs, and growing in containers.
