Description

Sew Fun: 20 Projects for the Whole Family is a thoughtful approach to crafting with and for children. Discover a variety of ways to get children involved in fun sewing projects, whatever their age or ability. Several projects are for adults to make and for children to enjoy. Others incorporate a child's drawings as inspiration for an adult-made project or allow older children to try out easy sewing themselves. Simple quilt patterns also allow children to work together choosing or decorating fabric while an adult handles the actual sewing. Deborah Fisher has developed a range of projects that will appeal to adults and children alike. Fun costumes, beautiful dolls, story-time blankets, and communal quilts are just some of the projects included here. Enjoy combining bright colours and contemporary fabrics while spending time with the family. Get tips for working with children and learn how to involve them in ways that are enjoyable and stress-free.|Enjoy combining bright colours and contemporary fabrics while spending time with the family. Reviews

"There are over 20 sewing projects and patterns to choose from, one cuter than the next--it was hard to pick which one I wanted to make and share about." --Pins & Needles' "In Your Stylish Craft Kit" Column "Sew Fun: 20 Projects for the Whole Family by Deborah Fisher is a great book to have on hand when looking for creative and fun ways to entertain crafty kids." --The Grand Rapids Press "My first impression after flipping through the book is that it looks like Anthropologie for kids." --Peneloping.com "The project in Deborah's book that is really messing with my schedule is the community quilt. First, I showed the pictures in the book to my husband, who has never voluntarily done anything crafty with fabric in his life. He immediately wanted us to make one as a family project...." --Felicia's World "It's a sewing-for-children book, and I wasn't sure what to expect being new to this whole having-children-to-sew-for game. But, I was very pleasantly surprised at what I found inside." --Sew-Well.com "Every project in Deborah's new book is so beautifully thought out and meaningful. She has written a book full of tips for sewing with children and ideas for encouraging their creativity. She has done a wonderful job of taking the scary out of that first initial step of confidently handing over the scissors and sewing machine and allowing your child to express themselves through an art form that children are naturally drawn to." --Schnitzel and Boo "Sew Fun has some great patterns to make with, and for your kids. I think sewing with kids and teaching them the foundations is extremely important--so I can appreciate Deborah including sidebars that help to know what part of the project planning kids can help with. All the patterns are also full size and in an envelope in the back of the book and I think that is so tremendously helpful." --Kid Giddy "One of my favorite things about this book is that it has tips on how the let your kids help with the creating on each project as well as a section that teaches YOU how to have FUN sewing with children." --Sew Can She "Your family will get hours of enjoyment out of this book as they create and enjoy these quilts, plushies, and much more. This hefty and expansive collection of fun projects is unlike many family sewing books you have seen. It comes with so many little extras that you will want to read it from cover to cover before you even start creating." --AllFreeSewing.com
