This long-awaited magnum opus by a preeminent scholar and teacher consists of commentaries on two Tibetan texts of interest to students of Vajrayana Buddhism in the West. The main commentary is on a brief text concerning the preliminary practices (ngondro) that are the foundation of Vajrayana Buddhism: the Dudjom Tersar Ngondro ("New Treasure of Preliminary Practices of Dudjom"), a well-known 'treasure text' (terma) revealed by Dudjom Lingpa (1835-1904, a noted terton, or discoverer of treasure texts). The approach to ngondro discussed here is the one most commonly followed by Western practitioners. The second commentary is on a short prayer written by Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche.
