Author Biography
Tom Nicoll is an award-winning writer of funny books for children, including the There's a Dragon in my... series and Boyband of the Apocalypse, which won the Stockton Children's Book of the Year 2019. He is also an avid, though arguably not-very-good, gamer and has written a video-game based series for younger readers called Level Up! He lives just outside Edinburgh with his wife and two daughters. Ross Collins was born in Glasgow. Growing up he was particularly fond of drawing the bionic man and precariously swinging backwards on chairs. He went on to study illustration at the Glasgow School of Art. Since then he has illustrated and written numerous books for children, with sales in over 25 languages. These include There's a Bear on My Chair, which won the UKLA award and the Amnesty CILIP Honour, and was shortlisted for the Greenaway Award. For Macmillan, Ross's books include the I Am a Tiger series and picture book editions of Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. He lives with his partner, his young son, and his dog Hugo, in Scotland.
ReviewsSmall readers will love this funny picture book, where exuberant animals race through the pages, and will whoop with joy when they find out how the snails manage to cross the finish line ahead of the fastest land mammal. -- Charlotte Eyre, Editor's Choice * The Bookseller *
