Description
Welcome your new baby to the world with lovingly knitted garments and accessories! This book is filled with easy-to-knit projects you'll want to make for the baby in your life. Top knitwear designer and author Val Pierce presents 25 simple patterns for practical but adorable baby knits, from bootees to hats to blankets. Whether it's a kimono-style jacket that you don't have to pull over a newborn's head or drawstring mittens that keep your little one from pulling them off, One-Stitch Baby Knits is full of thoughtful details that parents will love. Each and every one of these irresistible garments is made entirely with the garter stitch-the easiest stitch in knitting-making them accessible to beginners and quick and simple for more experienced knitters. Designed with small babies in mind, Val's patterns can be readily customized to get exactly what you want in a garment that's cheaper and sturdier than anything you'll find in stores.
Author Biography
Knitting and crochet have been a lifelong passion for Val Pierce, her father having taught her to knit at the tender age of 5. Having worked for many major yarn companies and various well-known designers, she decided it was time to branch out and begin making her own designs. Author of Love... Knitting, Val's work is published regularly in knitting magazines. She also teaches knitting and crochet to both adults and children.
ReviewsClear instructions and illustrations. --Ella Heart Book Reviews What a cute book of baby knits! The projects in this book are simple enough for a determined beginner but hold a decent amount of visual interest. Everything is worked flat and in garter stitch, for those who are not into purling or circular knitting. It would be easy for more experienced knitters to adjust these patterns and add in some visual interest that may have been sacrificed for simplicity. --Nicole Williams, Librarian "City University of New York " Newbies will appreciate Pierce's friendly reassurances that yes, mistakes happen and one can always start again. Patterns for a geometric blanket or a pom-pom hat can be stitched up quickly after just a bit of practice. However, the book isn't only for absolute beginners. More experienced knitters looking for last-minute gift ideas will find patterns for a teddy bear romper and an "under the sea"-themed hooded jacket, among other more demanding projects. Every pattern included yields simple but precious items that should have plenty of appeal for new parents. --Publishers Weekly
